They were matted so seriously and close to the skin that cutting them out was not an alternative.
A tranquilizer of some sort would have been perfect but I didn't have anything at all for her. Because there was no blood or real injury, taking a trip to the emergency hospital was not required ... that time.
That is a distressing yet entertaining story to share and hopefully an experience she has forgotten over time. It was also a trivial thing although painful and challenging for both of us. But it might have been worse.
